SCE 2012?

Hey there folks!

I see lots of news coming about SCOM 2012 and other SC products for 2012, but nothing for System Center Essentials. Can someone update us on this? Is there to be a SCE 2012, or is being renamed/rebranded, or ?? Just trying to figure out what I'm doing in the future, as to whether to stick to SCOM, or move to SCE, or ??

Thanks in advance!

Session setup failed because no trust account exists : Script - AD Validate Server Trust Event.

Hello,

I keep getting the error: "Session setup failed because no trust account exists : Script - AD Validate Server Trust Event." on my active alerts on SCOM 2007 R2 with the machine account name of LTVIC017 and the trust account of LTVIC017$.

What I'd like to know is how do I track this computer/laptop down?

There are no accounts for this device in AD, and I don't want this computer on my network at all. We have rolled out new computers and workstations with new naming conventions, and this one remains.

Unfortunately our network spreads over a few cities, so I need some help to try and locate this device.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

SCOM 2007: Availability Report showing 100% down time for some of the servers

Hi,

We have SCOM 2007 R2. When we are running the Availability Report through SCOM Console -> Reporting, it is showing 100% down time for some of the servers. When we check the servers, either they had < 1% or 0% down time. We have been facing this issue.

Please provide a solution/work around to get the correct down time for all the severs. Let me know if you need more information/details.

Thanks,

Naren.

Clients not installing Software

Hi,

in my initial test the software deployment by SCE worked as expected. Then I deployed the agent to some additional clients and know I get the following message in the servers application eventlog:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Windows Server Update Services
Event Category: Clients
Event ID: 13022
Date:  01.06.2007
Time:  09:10:39
User:  N/A
Computer: SRVBMSHQ18
Description:
Many client computers are not reporting their inventory. 27 have been detected so far.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

And if I assign a software to a test group of clients, the software is not deployed. All clients and servers in the SCE console to report Updates as "Up-to-date" but Software as "Unknown". But I'm pretty sure that in the first days of the installation all clients and servers reportet Software also as "OK".

So where can I check what's the issue?

corrupt backup file

I recently had to do a Full System Recovery on my daughters notebook to correct an audio problem. I backed up her My Documents folder on a flash drive using the Windows Backup Utilty. After the reinstall of Windows XP Pro, I could not restore my files using the Backup Restore Wizard (nor any other way!). I get the message "Unrecognized Media" followed by "The backup file contains unrecognized data and cannot be used." I found a couple programs to repair and recover corrupted backup files which found the files and displayed them but in order to restore them, you had to pay for the program which cost $149. I can't afford to pay that to restore my daughters files from college. I am a single consumer, not a corporation! Is there any free programs to accomplish this task? The afore mentioned  ones said "Free" but only half free!
A solution to my problem would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!! I have been very fustrated trying to get this resolved!!!
Thanks, Jean1

Failed Agent push/repair could not connect to service control manager

I am getting this error on the ecs2007 server in active alerts. It states the MOM server failed to open the service control manager on the pc, therefore the MOM server cannot complete configuration of the agent on the computer. There is no ISA server in this environment which I looked at another thread about this first before posting.

health service not responding on server

I am on the SCE physical server in the SCE console and seeing errors.  When I use discover wizard I get this error:

"Health Serivce 'systemcenter.domain.com' in whic the location monitoring object is contained is not available.  Make sure the computer hosting the Health Service is available and verify that the Health Service is running."

I click Show additional info and get this:

"Note:  The following information was gathered when the operation was attempted.  The information may appear cryptic but provides context for the error.  The application will continue to run.

Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Common.LocationMonitoringObjectNotAvailableException: Health Service 'systemcenter.domain.com' in which the location monitoring object is contained is not available.    at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Console.ConsoleJobExceptionHandler.ExecuteJob(IComponent jobOwner, EventHandler`1 job, Object sender, ConsoleJobEventArgs args)"

I then go look at the event log and see this:

"An exception was thrown while processing LaunchDiscovery for session id uuidBig Smile6f05214-abb3-4093-9ada-2dd3f7941733;id=5.

Make sure that the computer hosting the Health Service is available and verify that the Health Service is running.).

For more information, see Help and Support Center at "

I have searched this forum and have not found an answer.  I have verified the Run As Acount within SCE.  I have verified that the Health Service is in fact running.  I have rebooted the server.  I need some help with this please.

Health service not available on SCE server

I'm having trouble with discovery from my SCE2010 serverver. The initial discovery went well and everything seemed to be running OK for the first few weeks but as I've been trying the features out I seem to be running into trouble with the health service on the server.

When I attempt to do a discovery of new machines on the network I get an error message that reads "Health Service 'SCE.police.ctb' in which the location monitoring object is contained is not available. Make sure that the computer hosting the Health Service is available and verify that the Health Service is running."

I've stopped and re-started the service named "System Center Management" since it appears to be the health monitor but that hasn't made any difference. It still appears to be monitoring the 180 odd machines it discovered without any major errors.

Anyone have any ideas?  I've just bought into this system and I'm currently frustrated since it won't allow me to do much. It's running on a 2008R2 virtual sever with the database located on a seperate 2008 virtual box.

Problem with reports

Hi!

I have SCE 2007 installed on a Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 x86. I get the same error with a lot of reports I try to run. For example when I run the Microsoft Generic Report Library / Availability report, the following error appears on the screen (a popup windows):

Cannot execute report.

There are no error in the event logs, the reporting services seem to work fine, and all the reports which are links from the SCE Admin console (like Health Report, Group Status, Group Update Deployment Status, and so on) works perfectly with no errors.

Does anyone has an idea where to digg to solve the problem?

Thanks in advance,

Lubo.

(KB2734608) - Remote Console doesn't show the real Operative System but WSUS server does.

Hello all!

For a quick overview let me tell you that I have WSUS 3.0 SP2 on a Windows Server 2003 Std Ed. which has been recently upgraded with the KB2734608.

The only problem I see is that at the WSUS server I can see my Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 clients, but if I run the WSUS console (mmc... add/remove snap in...Update Services...Connect to server), it doesn't show my current operative system on clients, it displays Widnows XP Professional x64 Edition for Windows 8 and Widnows Server 2003 Datacenter x64 Edition for my Windows Server 2012 clients.

Is this a known issue?  Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Attempt to Install Virtual Guest Services to a Virtual Server fails

$

I have Systems Center Essentials 2010, and in my Server Console, I was attempting to install Virtual Guest Services on an existing HyperV Server, and the Console reports "Update Failed".

The server is listed, but the "State" is not properly indicated.

When I attempt to right click and select "Repair", nothing happens.

If I attempt to "Install Virtual Guest Services" again the Console reports there is no OS on the server.

I am unable to do anything in System Center Essentials for this virtual machine. I can even go to my Fail Over Cluster server and live migrate to the other host but System Center still reports the server on the original host, and fails to report its correct location.

Even in Administration I am unable to change the status of this server. I have even attempted to remove the agent and re-install with no change.

Obviously I don't want to risk "deleting" the system from  the console, but is there anything manually that can change the State or "update" the Virtual Guest Services?

explain deployment in general terms

If this answer is out there, I have missed it. And it may be inferred through 10,000 posts but I am not putting it all together.

I am trying to find the basic deployment "topology" for SCE 2010. I have two physical hosts for my hyper-v environment (one is for manual failover). I have licensing for everything as prescribed. I intend to use it primarily for managing the hosted VMs, initially.

My questions:

Does anyone know of a diagram with example deployments?

In my environment described above would I put SCE on the primary physical host AND the failover physical host thus enabling moving the VMs toand from the failover if/when needed (is that kind of the gist for how it is intended to be used for managing VMs)?

      or

Is a separate physical server (ironically, because I implemented virtualization in part to reduce the number of physical servers) required just to run SCE for managing the two physical servers and their VMs (would this be the "management server" referred to in the Essentials Datasheet)?

      and if so,

Shouldn't I then have redundancy for that server if a separate one for SCE is required?

Thank you in advance.

Hi

Can I manage windows server 2012?

Can I manage Hyper-V 2012?

Can I manage Exchange 2013?

Can I instal an agent on Windows Server 2012 or Windows 2012 Hyper-V?

When will be the next version of Essential?

SCE 2007 6.0.1885.0, EBS. Clients XP, Win 7, W2k8.

If I add a pc or rename a pc it no longer adds to a SCE group stays in All Computers. I can push the install or install manually, reinstall and verify the mgt group name is correct. It shows under Agent Managed, NOT under pending or Network Devices.

The health service on BACKWALLQB.RANDACPAS.local is attempting to communicate with a management group that does not exist on this server. The management group Id the agent is requesting is c1e1a0a6-dd41-c434-79d8-b0c8fd1d22c1. Please verify that the management group specified on the agent and server is correct.

Event Id 21012 OpsMgr was unable to set up a communications channel to MGTSVR1.RANDACPAS.local and there are no failover hosts.  Communication will resume when MGTSVR1.RANDACPAS.local is both available and allows communication from this computer.

event id 20000 A device which is not part of this management group has attempted to access this Health Service.
Requesting Device Name :

I've verified that the GUID (c1e1a0a6-dd41-c434-79d8-b0c8fd1d22c1) for the management group id is the same in the registry of the clients as it is on the mgt server registry and managerment group name MGTSVR1_MG also match.

I've also run setspn -L to verify that there are no duplicate or different listing for the ops health server. I've also run a SQL script that was in another answer on technet to see if there are duplicate guids, none were found. I've also tried deleting the contents of the Health Services Store. However when I did that and restarted the ops services all i got was errors and after 3 days no health check-ins. I restored the contents and everyone started talking/updating agian. Well those that were talking & updating anyways.

In Administration on SCE new or renamed pc's show Not monitored. Name, Domain, Version & action account show Unknown only FDQN is filled in.

ALL clients check-in to WSUS and report, download, and install updates fine. All clients are part of SCE Managed Computer group. gpresult on clients show that it applied settings.

I've googled the hell out of this for about a year and no answers on technet or other sites fixed it, obviously or I wouldn't be posting.

I think I have a sticky wicket somewhere in SCE.

Hi,

I have been trying to uninstall SCE2010 from our domain for the past few days without any success. When I go to Programs & Features and click uninstall I receive the following error.  I have also tried doing a command line uninstall using the original Install media but that results in the same error.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

My sister and I share a windows media player link. I think something is wrong with it lol. Day before yesterday she went into media player and it showed up on my pc that she had found it. Now my pc wont go to sleep because there is a program still running somewhere. Is it possible her media player is causing my pc not to go to sleep because maybe her media player is still running? She is asleep right now and I havent checked out her pc. We have checked everything possible except that, and my problem started the same day she did that.

Thank you, Sharon
